We had Nicole's one year speech evaluation. She has come so far and I am so proud of all the hard work we
have all put in over the last year.

When Nicole was first evaluated she was 18 months old and scored below 12 months on speech and sound. She is now 35 months old and scored 20-24 months on her
speech and sound eval.

She scored extremely high on all other levels of development which is just awesome, now if we can just get her speech to catch up We are still having much
difficulty with articulation. She also omits sounds like at the ends of word and she distorts sounds such as d's for g's.

When she turns 3 she will no longer be accepted in ECI and will have to move up into the next stage of the program which is the school...

We decided to start teaching Seth to read this summer, since he is out of school. We bought the Hooked on Phonics program, and it started out really well. He
got through the first 2 games and the first 3 lessons in a matter of days. By day 3 he was able to read the first story. Then he just became stubborn, and now
refuses to even try to do anything! He rolls on the floor, looks around, pretty much anything to keep from doing it. When he plays the computer games, he
purposefully picks the wrong things, then laughs. When we do get him to try to focus for a bit, he does fine until he gets one wrong, but as soon as he makes a
mistake, he doesn't want to do it anymore. I am frustrated because I just don't know how to *make* him do it. I don't expect perfection, but I want
him to at least make an attempt, kwim? We are at a loss where to go from here, we don't want to punish him or anything, because we don't want him to
think reading is a punishment and hate it, but we...

Well we are reaching 1 year with ECI and speech thearpy. And for the most part I can say we have progress...very slow progress. Nicole has about 15-20 half
words. Half words are words you can make out what she is trying to say but the entire word is not there. Like up will just the the u part. She only qualifies
for ECI until age 3 which will be Nov 20 (ouch hurts my heart to say that). Once out of the ECI program she then is evaluated and hopefully accepted into the
school district. This program is called PPCD. THis is a special ed program for children with disabilites age ranging 3-5. She will be evaluated 30 days from
her 3rd birthday. There are 2 different programs she could qualify for. One being just speech. She would go to the school once a day, have speech and then...

Okay, so one of our kitties is getting old. We have been having issues with her for sometime, but recently it has become bad, she is puking really thick blacky red yuck and has what appears to be long elastic coming from her butt, which makes her drag poop all over. I know, it is totally gross. Last night when DH came to bed, and there was poop all over our chair, the cat, and some clothes, we came to our breaking point. We decided there are 3 choices, do nothing (we are past that), set her free, or put her down. She has always been an inside cat and has no claws, so we can't really turn her loose, especially if she is sick. So, we made the decision to take her to the vet (I am going Friday) and see what they say. We are hoping it is something that maybe they can cure with medication, but we are not too hopeful. She is 11 years old, and has a propensity for eating things she shouldn't, when she was a kitten we had to have surgery on...
