My 4.5 year old has severe tantrums. It's been about 2 years that we realized it wasn't due to her age, kwim? So we've seen a psychiatrist and developmental pediatrician. They gave us good ideas, and we've read some books that are helpful.

Since anger issues are common, there are a lot of books out there to help. Something that is important to remember in kids who have tantrums is that predictable routines help them a lot. If they know what to expect, they handle things well. Problems almost always arise with my kiddo when she's tired and/or hungry AND something else throws her for a loop, just anything out of the ordinary. So this can be a problem because life isn't always perfectly predictable. We have to explain a lot of "this is the way to react when this happens. A better way to react is this..."

And of course there is the use of medications to help as well.

Aiden's caseworker seems excited to learn more about us
& we're excited about Aiden...We'll see. It may be possible; but it still may not work out ............ we're still excited. We'd like to be the one that sticks around ...

Aiden's had 3 placement.... all 3 failed due to temper tantrums/ anger outbursts. We'll see by being homestudied ... if picked we get more detailed information about the the child so as to better understand what he's been through. ...... My biggest question to the therapist is .... With patience, consistency and love will Aiden in time maybe grow out of his anger fits??? Right now he has no physical outbursts I look at that as a good thing. We'll see.
