OK.. So I had my First Trimester screening done for Downs Tri 13 and 18..... I tested Positive for Downs based on my Blood work... I went from a risk of 1:186 to a risk factor of 1:39... I know there is still a good chance of my pregnancy out come being good.. However I am so worried because my Blood Levels were so off...Does any one have any input on my levels..My B-hCG Level was 1.485 MoMAnd my PAPP-A Level was 0.199 MoM.... This is extremely Low..
I definitely understand your concern and it would be driving me crazy too. I think you need to talk to your doctor and figure out what is best for you. Being upset and worried for the rest of the pregnancy isn't good for your body, and on the other hand, having an amnio would put your mind at ease but comes with a risk to the baby. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you need to either make peace with your results and prepare yourself for the slight chance your baby may have something wrong (though I'm sure you have a healthy little one in there) and make peace with the fact that everything is "probably" fine OR if you just can't calm down and let your body relax, get the amnio to ease your mind and body so you have a less stressful pregnancy, which will be healthier for yourself and your babe. Sorry if that didn't make complete sense, but just know that I would be torn too and spending hours trying to figure out to do.

I've never had those tests done (for the same reason that I think I would worry so much or even be given a false sense of security if the tests came back good). But I know several people who have had these tests done and almost all of them that had a higher possibility of Down Syndrome from the tests (or even spina bifida) ended up having normal healthy babies. And I do have one friend who has a 6 year old daughter who has Down Syndrome whose tests came back normal, and a 4 year old daughter whose tests came back more positive for DS and she does not have it. So strange, but I am not sure how reliable those tests are in the end.

I hope you are able to find out more as the PG progresses and that everything will work out well in the end!! Good luck!

It was a NT-Nuchal Tran.. My ultrasound showed nothing to worry about..... But then why at 26 are they giving me such a high chance.. I mean, my numbers must be really bad you know. I just wish that I didn't have it done.. I have never before. I feel so worried, I mean I can deal with it if the baby has DS.. its the low PAPP-A that scares me the most.. i mean that is really low, and I am just worried about my pregnancy now..

It's not really testing positive... I mean, I am sure you know that basically what it is saying is that women who go on to have children with Down's Syndrome will have numbers in "this" range, and the closer your numbers are to women who have DS children, the more likely you will too.

Was this just the quad screen or was this the NT - nuchal translucency?

BTW when I was pregnant with my son, I scored 1:13 chance he would have trisomy 13/18, and also a high down syndrome chance (1:100 or less) and he turned out fine.

I know how hard these results can be to take. I did not have the amnio, but I asked for more u/s as I went along, to see if they could see anything on u/s that would indicate that my son had these... they can take certain measurements that can put you at ease (DS measurements include I think nasal bone, femur, heart, etc)
