I was gonna say "choose your battles" first too. LOL

A couple things... someone on CS, maybe it was Moloughney... said that she used to do everything for her son, and he is horrible about helping around the house. But she wised up and had the other ones do chores early so that they wouldn't end up like that... so from then on, I stopped telling the kids they couldn't help me with mommy housework... All I used to want them to do was pick up their mess... but now if one of them wants to help with laundry, I let them. It takes longer, it's never right, it's annoying, but the smiles on their faces is priceless... sort of in the same vein of what Reece was saying, taking time to smell the roses... I try to remember being a kid and being so bored, wanting to do something but not knowing what... so I try to think from their point of view and allow more help.

Second thing I like is sometimes when...

That you will find yourself one day wishing so badly for those times when a little one needed a glass of water, or the little one needed to sleep with mommy because she was afraid........and you will miss the little buttlerfly kisses and hugs and being needed so much. That we spend so much time wishing we could get more rest or get more time alone then one day you would give anything for just one hour of the life you had when your kids were little..........

When my dad told me (after he had a heart attack and found out he had cancer) that he would give up 5 years of his remaining life just to have one day with me and my sister when we were little............that made me cry...........then my grandmother told me that she and my grandad are so lonely........she said that when she was younger she was always so busy washing clothes, cleaning the house, preparing dinner, ironing clothes, giving baths, etc. that she used to wish the...

-show genuine excitement every morning when your child gets up in the morning (except maybe at 2;00 a.m.) and she will know she is loved.

-cuddle/hug/kiss your child as much as possible (disreguard those who say you are spoiling your baby by holding/cuddling them too much) because you are instilling a sense of security in your child-and soon enough they will grow up and pull away from all your affection.

-be consistent (easier said than done unfortunately)

-don't worry about the litt le things (choose your battles)-it really doesn't matter if they go to school with 2 different colored socks, or if they refuse to brush their hair one day, or if your son wants to buy the pink ball, etc.

For the newborn stage:
- sleep when baby sleeps
- if you feel you're on the verge of breaking down from all the crying, it's okay to lay baby down in its crib and close the door for 15 minutes while you take a bath or do something else to regain your calm
For the toddler to kindergarten stage:
