After clomid, we found 4 cysts. Three cleared up when I went on birth control but one has not changed at all and another has formed. We are going to do surgery to remove them but she thinks PCOS may be a strong possibility and could be the cause of why we are having problems conceiving. I am nervous about the surgery and really don't have any idea what PCOS means for me. Anyone have thoughts or advice?

Oldtimer Posts: 791 07/27/2011 7:35 AM Member	I was diagnosed with PCOS 5 years ago when we were trying to conceive our second child. My RE put me on metformin 2 years ago & that has really helped. I have not had anymore cysts since I started the medication, but I still am unable to ovulate on my own. I can ovulate with the help of fertility drugs & now with Vitex which has regulated my cycles. It is frustrating & I hate living with it, but if your dr can keep you from getting cysts, it is bearable. Good Luck!! Me 36 DH 34 DD 10 DS 4 ~Stacie~

Newbie < 100 Posts BTDT Posts: 46 07/27/2011 2:26 PM	I too have PCOS. It took quite a while for the doctors to diagnose mine. I really only have the symptoms of lack of periods and therefore it affects my fertility. Luckily I don't have any of the other associated symptoms. I too was put on Clomid and Metformin when TTC my daughter. Now though, I was advised that there wasn't enough evidence to say that Metformin even made any difference (although if they're not 100% sure, where's the harm in trying!!) so I've just been put onto Clomid and am on my 4th cycle. Best of luck to you. I suppose the good part is that if there is a diagnosis, then there are treatments and you aren't just left wondering what the cause of the infertility is.
