Good Luck today!! I will be praying for you and axiously waiting to hear back from you on your visit.. I was on progestrone in the past but didn't hear about birth defects.. have you seen the progestrone cream you can buy and rub on your belly ? A friend bought it from a health food store I think and tried it.. I shy away from things unless my doctor prescribes it... Ask the doc today about the progestrone question.. I would like to know the answer also..

Hope you get the answers you are looking for at your appointment!
All the research I did and what my Dr. told me about progesterone is that the biggest worry would be problems with the babies genitalia. Although this is most common with a synthetic form and not as much with the natural progesterone products. I've tried suppositories but they didn't do anything for me. I was told by my Dr. that suppositories aren't absorbed well and the dose can't be guaranteed. The injections however, raised my levels nicely and helped me to get past the first trimester for the first time, only to have a incompetent cervix and to deliver at 19 weeks due to complications. But, She was absolutely perfect inside and out according to our eyes and the pathology report. With all the research I've done over the last couple of years I would do the daily injections again in a heartbeat! Beth, I hope your appointment goes well. I will be thinking about you. As far as progesterone being said to cause birth defects, I don't think this has proven to be true. I hope you get a chance to ask your doctor about it.
Well, take care and let us know what is up okay?

i asked about the progestrone..she said that wouldn't of caused chromosome disorders..but i still question it!
we talked to a lady all about chromosomes..i felt like i was back in highschool! i didn't really understand all of it..but then we went over our medical history..etc..nothing was really done..but she said when i do get pregnant..if i want an amino or a cvs i am welcome to have it done. which i may..but am not sure yet. she asked us if we wanted a blood test for chromosome disorders..and i said yes! my husband thinks maybe it was just bad luck..but all three times! i don't think so..so i said i want them done..and i wanted him checked out too! i have had blood tests done..when i was pregnant this last time..and everything came back normal..so now it is his turn. so we have to wait two weeks or so for the results..she said it may or may not provide answers..and the next step would be an endo biopsy...but i think i might just try if the tests come back fine this time..i know i can't go through another m/c..but maybe i won't..who knows anymore! oh sweetie -- i'm sorry you have to go through all this but at least you are on your way to some answers. i'm glad to hear your appointment went well.
i had two back-to-back first trimester m/c's and after the second one we decided to seek the advice of a genetic specialist. i was on progesterone too. we had all the blood tests done and everything came back normal. sometimes i wished that it would have told us something was wrong so we would have had a reason. we had our second baby tested and it showed that he had a trisomy which was incompatable with life so the chance of me or DH being a carrier was zero. i thought i would never be able to carry a baby full-term but our third time must be a charm -- now i am thirty-one weeks pregnant and so far so good! ~emily 31weeks + 3days! it's a boy! EDD: 4th of july! |

Beth, I am sorry you are sad. It is very difficult not knowing what is up, not understanding why, and feeling like you can't do anything about it.
When I go to the doctors, I feel so frustrated, like they can't really help. That is what drew me into the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approach. I learned about it through reading the book The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis. I get acupuncture treatments and get an herbal formula taylored to each phase of my cycle. According to TCM we have 5 phases and each is unique. One herb she puts in the formula is for preventing miscarriage. There are always about 11 herbs in my formula. I have felt so much better feeling like I am doing something good for me instead of getting more and more stressed out and depressed. Also improving my diet has also helped. I know this is not the path for everyone, but I do feel much better and thought I would share that little bit with you. I hope things get better for you soon! |
