BTDT Posts: 148 01/03/2008 6:14 PM	Tags : None Remove this ad Ladies, Here is my situation, I had DD vaginally with no drugs and had no stitches and a very fast labor with no real complications. Now that we are having twins my Dr is giving me the choice of how I would like to do it, Evan is head down and Elyse is transverse on top, he says that he feels better going with a c/s with twins just for the sake of the unexpected. I am leaning towards a c/s because I am so scared of their well being but have the question in the back of my head if I should try it vaginally for a faster and easier recovery. So, how did you all deliver and what are your thoughts on this? As always thanks for your wonderful advice!!

Oldtimer Posts: 8068 01/04/2008 2:14 PM Mommy to Cole, Rylan & Cooper!	I had a c-section because Baby A was transverse and never moved, even after going into labor. My OB will let twins be born vaginally as long as A is head down regardless of B's position. He said he's never had one born vaginally and then had to do a section for the other baby. The only thing he and the hospital require is that you deliver in the OR. He said he is very comfortable doing twin deliveries even if he has to do a breech delivery for B. I'd have rather have had them vaginally. The recovery from the c-section is much longer. If A is head down and your OB is comfortable delivering the other one regardless of position that would be my choice. If your OB will not deliver B vaginally unless the baby is head down, meaning if B doesn't turn after A comes out and they do an automatic c-section, I'd either talk to some other OBs who are comfortable with breech/transverse deliveries, or do the whole thing by section.

Oldtimer Posts: 1474 01/09/2008 3:09 PM	I had a c/s at 38 weeks. Baby A was head down and Baby B was transverse. We were all set to let nature take it's course, but my doc was worried about Baby B being transverse and a bit bigger. He also said that if while Baby A is being pushed out, Baby B's heart rate drops, there would be nothing they could do until Baby A was out. That did it for me! I wanted them to arrive safely much more than I wanted a vaginal delivery. But, every situation is different. My c/s was a piece of cake though (it almost felt like cheating! ) I was up out of bed 8 hours after (catheter came out) and the next morning I walked to the nursery all by myself. We were home 3 days later and I was up and down stairs and everything.

Newbie < 100 Posts BTDT Posts: 32 02/03/2008 10:49 AM	Remove this ad I had my twins vaginally. Baby A was head down and Baby B was Breech. A came out fine and then my cervix closed up a bit. They thought they would have to do a C-sec for B, but gave me some drugs to relax the cervix and were able to pull him out. I am glad to have had them both vaginally, but there is a very real risk of it ending in a C-sect. anyway. It's a hard decision, but I am sure you will make the right choice for you. Good luck!! I have two cousins who also have twins... one had a c-section because she just is a 'small girl' and had ALOT of trouble delivering her first child... and the other had a vaginal birth... (her twins were both head down). The "rules" to the hospitals here is that baby A HAS to be head down and you are required to have an epidural because of it 'what if' of baby b.... BTDT Posts: 148 03/04/2008 3:55 PM	Well, I decided to go ahead with a scheduled c/s. I am now 34 w 3d and am looking forward to the 27th as I will be 37w4d!!! I really hope that we can make it to then, I have been dilated to almost 2 cm for 2 weeks and go in tomorrow for an u/s and full checkup so we will see. Thanks for all the info, I feel like it is the right decision for us. EDITED to update: Back from u/s and Elyse decided is change up the plans and is now head down, so we are going to try to go natural and in worst case scenario have c/s. Also Evan weighs 4 lb 15 oz and Elyse is 5 lb 4 oz at 34w4d!!! So excited that they are so big!!! Last Edited By: yayazmomma 03/05/2008 3:34 PM. Edited 1 time.
