I had them via c-section at 34 weeks. I started having problems with pre-term labor at 22 or 23 weeks and started having to go to L&D to get terb injections. At 32 weeks I just flat out went into labor and stayed in L&D on that horrid mag sulfate drip for a couple days and then moved over to the high risk unit. By 34 weeks, my OB was surprised they were still in there I was 4 cms and 90% effaced when I went back into labor at 34 weeks and that was pretty much the end of that. My point is just that, it started going south early on.

Let's see.....my OB would allow you to deliver vaginally as long as A was head down, regardless of how B was. I've never heard of any OB or mid-wife allowing a vaginal twin birth if both are transverse or breech. Also, most OBs only allow a vaginal birth if BOTH are head down. If that is something that you really want, be sure to find out where your OB stands early on. I was dead set on a vaginal birth and my OB was one of the few at my hospital that didn't care about B's position. Unfortunately, baby A was transverse so there was no way to attempt a vaginal birth. I did have a vaginal birth with my 1st and to be totally honest, I still felt the same feelings and emotions when the twins were born. It's not like one was 'better' than the other, seeing your child for the first time is still special no matter how they come out!

My hospital had a level III NICU. I don't think I would have felt comfortable delivering any of my kids somewhere where they didn't have a level III NICU. I know of a horror story that happened to a good friend of mine with a perfectly normal birth where the baby had to be transported to another hospital because where she delivered at only had a level II and he needed acute care. Anyway, since we knew they were coming early and were going to end up in the NICU anyway, it just felt better to have all our bases covered.

My college roommate just had her twins 3 days before her scheduled c-section at 38 weeks!
