Here's my tip:
When Everett is bathing I will either do pushups on the side of the wall or tub. Also I do lunges while he plays in the tub. I keep an eye on him, he gets to play and I can get some work out in

I wanted to start a topic on how we all fit exercise into our days. Sometimes we don't have time to get a workout in so what do you do???

Good idea. The most excercise I get is just taking an afternoon walk. There is a park about half a mile from our house and Ethan LOVES to swing, so we walk there at least a few days a week. I don't know what I'll do when the weather gets colder.

I lost 20 some pounds by wearing a pedometer and making sure I got 10,000 steps a day in. This was a few years ago before kids. I would teach all day then work out for a bit at night. I am almost positive I get more than that from chasing a toddler!

At work I try and take the stairs everywhere instead of the elevators. What's nice about where I work is we get a free membership to the Y (which is just around the corner) and an hour for lunch. I spend it on the treadmill!

The pedometer is a great thing. I've been aiming for 10,000 steps and that has helped me lose the last 5 baby pounds!!!
Also, when I take the kids swimming I'll put them in their floaties and kick around the pool until I really start to "feel the burn!" jessica me 26 dh 26 mc april 2002 grace olivia, june 12, 2003 missed mc may 2004 ds jackson wayne, january 12, 2005, born @ 28 weeks due to umbilical cord rupture. Eli and I spent at least 30 minutes 5 or 6 different times a day just going up and down the stairs in my house. I have a front and back set, so Eli climbs up one, runs down the hall and then I help him climb down the other, he runs through the house and starts all over again. It is exhausting so I think I'm getting a good workout. I also go on a walk each day.

I make sure that I go up and down the stairs 15 times a day at home.. it helps our laundry is down there..
I also found that parking farther away from the store helped to. ie/ I would park the farthest away I could.. ( I admit in the rain I wasn't so good about it) and walk. the extra few min does you good.. I also do a couple of "laps" around walmart or where ever I am shopping before I stop and look at things.. |

I agree with taking the baby for a walk... G usually falls asleep and she has her nap while I get some exercise.

I do songs with the kids at school ( I teach K) that involve movement of some kind; I park farther than I need to; I workout 30 min. right after the kids leave and are on the buses before I go home and cook dinner, etc.; and me and DH walk a couple evenings a week. And the occasional

Having triplets is a workout in itself as I feel like I am constantly on the move taking care of babies, doing dishes, laundry or other household chores. My main source of exercise is taking the babies on walks. Unless it is really hot outside, I always aim for a 45 min. to an hour walk. The babies LOVE getting out of the house and I am able to get a good workout. Also, just playing on the floor with my babies provides a good opportunity to do some crunches etc. Sometimes (if I have the energy) I will go for a quick jog or powerwalk in the evening when DH is home and the kids are in bed. Or I will get up about an hour before the kids and do a workout tape or go for a walk or jog. I have lost 80 lbs. since my babies were born, so I guess I am doing something right (of coure a lot of that was just baby and water weight!).

Here's what I do. I get up an hour before anybody else and do a power 90 tape. Our glasses are 16oz so I drink one of those with water before I do my tape (while I'm getting dressed) I drink another while I'm doing my tape. Then I have this friend who's dh is from Okinawa and she read in a magazine there to always drink 32oz before breakfast. So I gulp down 2 more glasses while cooking breakfast. So I've already had my daily amount before breakfast. Then I drink 2 glasses before every meal. I think it just fills you up so you don't eat as much. Then I drink water with every meal and in between. We go about our days and I walk about 3 miles give or take a few every night with a neighbor. I still have 7lbs to go. It's a sticky 7 lbs to. Tara

Aidan usually takes a few hour naps during the day. As soon as he has his first nap(around 10:30) I do one of my tae-bo workouts. I add about 5-10 minutes of my own aerobics right after the tape ends. I find that I have to do my exercise in the morning or I won't have enough energy to do it at night. I power walk with the baby in the stroller too. It also helps that Ethan has started kindergarten. Now I only have Aidan at home during the day. I have lost about 8lbs so far and I only started exercising regularly last week. I did it 4 times last week(mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs) This gives me the weekends off since they are usually very busy.

i like to dance around with Everton - he seems to enjoy it too, plus "they" say it enhances rythym/coordination
the other thing is making sure you hold your stomach tight (as well as your derrier!) when ever your walking or picking up baby - if you make a concious effort in the beginning it will eventually become an unconcious thing PLUS you'll find yourself standing taller, having better core-strength and looking thinner! there's lots... i could go on forever...but i won't... |

Another is to squeeze your rearend(butt) when changing the baby!! That way you HAVE to hold it tight for atleast a minute or so!

I've been doing Tae-Bo for years...and now that I have Tate...I just bring her downstairs with me and let her watch me or play or whatever. I want her to be used to exercise and eating right from the start....and it's already a part of her daily life.
