First, for those that are breast feeding, do you recommend having a breast pump on hand before baby is born? Also, I am looking for recommendations on breast pumps. I had an Avent Isis with my first son, but it was recalled due to BPA and I returned it to the company. I will be off for one year and plan to exclusively breast feed. I will be pumping to relieve engorgement and build up a supply to have on hand. I would like to have my husband and son occasionally bottle feed the baby breastmilk, and of course have some available for times I may be away from baby. Thanks Kelly

Oldtimer Posts: 1135 06/24/2009 10:00 PM	I rented one from a pharmacy for the first couple of months and now I use the Medela mini electric that I bought after my first was born. It works well, although it took a bit of adjusting considering I was using the rented one. I have poor milk supply so I was pumping in the hospital and continued when I got home. Lately, I haven't been doing it much because I don't have the time and supplement with formula when I need to give a bottle. I'm taking a year off too. It's going fast some days and not fast enough other days . Me (38) DH (40)

Oldtimer Posts: 2343 08/03/2009 7:22 AM	Hello! I have a manual pump, and I have purchased a double pump. I will use the double pump when I go back to work. For around the house I use the manual pump. It's so much easier than trying to set up the tubing, plug in, put the pump together, etc. If I were going to be staying home for a year, I wouldn't have purchased the double electric. I love my lansinoh manual pump and I would just use it.
