My dr. told me to wait til 4 (I think - have to ask at 3 year appt) because my two nieces and nephew have nut allergies.

Oldtimer Posts: 2234 07/02/2009 10:14 PM	If I allowed it, my girls would live off PB&Js. They ask for them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The get them for lunches 4-5 days a week. Their daddy also LOVES nuts and they are always mooching off him. They eat it all. I have noticed a lot of nut container say not to give them to children under the age of 5 because of choking hazard. Since my girls mooch they are always supervised when eating nuts. Also Grampa-ul (Grandpa Paul) has started a new thing where he brings them Peanut M&M's when he comes to visit. Now that she's 3, she won't have anything to do with peanut butter. I thought it would have been a good protein since she doesn't eat much meat. I'll have to keep trying. Me (38) DH (40)

Oldtimer Posts: 2343 07/07/2009 7:19 PM	Ethan is a peanut LOVER! He snacks on peanuts all the time. We have no one in our family with nut allergies, so he had pb crakers at 12 months, and nuts around 18m I think. But if you give him a choice of a snack, he'll choose peanuts everytime.

Remove this ad no, I havent given nuts to either of my kids yet but I dont stay away from things that say may include nuts... only actual things that contain nuts. TJ had food allergies when he was little so I am waiting to get him tested again to make sure he doesnt have any allergies left. He had an allergic reaction to wheat, milk, soy and a severe reaction to eggs but it seems all of them have gone away.. however, ive never given an actual egg but he has eaten things that contained eggs. I never gave nuts to Jaelyn just to be safe.
