Oldtimer Posts: 2101 09/08/2009 5:14 PM	Tags : None Remove this ad hi, I just have a question about bleeding and cramping after a d&c. hope someone can answer. ok i had my d&c last thursday and for the last 3 days i have been having bad cramping like contractions every few mins. that lasts for awhile until i cant take it anymore i take some pain pills. before i have these cramps i have light spotting to nothing at all. but once the cramping starts i start bleeding more not tons of blood but darker red and light flow with little blood clots. is this pretty normal or should i be concerned? the way my doctor said i shouldn't bleed for long only some light spotting for a few days if that. and i know each D&C is different for each person. i'm just worried about the cramping contractions. thanks for all your help and info you can give me. Oldtimer Posts: 7235 09/08/2009 8:45 PM Awaiting my sticky bean	I have had two m/c and my last one i too had a d & c. My suggestion is to give your doctor a call, it is normal in the first few days to have some cramping due to the gas they put into you to extend your tummy to do the procedure, but if i remember correctly not days and days worth. i do hope you are starting to feel better

Oldtimer Posts: 50025 09/08/2009 11:07 PM	I had cramping contractions like that with my last m/c (the blighted ovum) but not with my m/c where I chose to do the D&C. I would probably call the doc to put my mind at ease. I didn't call the doc on my blighted ovum because I knew my beta levels had dropped drastically and just realized I was passing the tissue on my own... but since you had a D&C I would call. .........................................

Oldtimer Posts: 2101 09/09/2009 5:51 AM	thanks ladies i'm going to call this morning and see what he says. for the last 3 days i have been temping just to see if my levels are dropping which i thought they were but i guess not. my follow up appt. isn't until the 23rd. do you think i should get my hcg checked? i figured my temps should be lower then this by now. Oldtimer Posts: 2101 09/09/2009 7:40 AM	ok so far so good light light brownish spotting this morning. but this is how it starts off every morning light to nothing. i have been up for sometime now and still this. no cramping as of yet i usually don't get the cramping until late afternoon to evening. only thing new i have this morning is nausea slightly on and off. maybe from my wacky hormones. i may hold off from calling the doctor unless it gets worse. i will KUP. I think I was hemorreging - sp???? I had massive clots coming out of me - it was like I never even had a d&c... I called the dr. many times, b/c I knew this wasn't normal, and they said if the bleeding soaks thru a pad in 1/2 hour - go to emergency room(which it did many times, but I was at our beach house on Hatteras Island and the hospital was a good 45 min. drive).... They did give me a prescription to stop the bleeding, but I never took it, b/c I wanted all of the "mess" out of me.... After this episode, I did continue to have a light-medium bleed for several days, then it turned into spotting for about a week, then it went to brownish spotting for a couple of days, then it FINALLY stopped. If you are not having heavy bleeding, I really do think that you are okay. I would still call the dr. and let them know what is going on... Did they give you any "strong" pain meds? Oldtimer Posts: 2101 09/09/2009 8:41 AM	thanks, i still have 3 pills of methergine they gave me i stopped taking them. for pain pills they only gave me ibuprofen 800mgs. which has helped with the cramping pain and slight headaches. the bleeding hasn't been bad at all. TMI last night i had a slight light pink/brownish flow with lots of like ewcm mixed in. so i'm not concerned about hemorrhage. i just hope he got everything out or it's all coming out. so i don't have to have a repeat surgery. Oldtimer Posts: 2101 09/09/2009 5:06 PM	thanks, i called the doctor's office and talked with the nurse she said sounds completely normal. and if it gets worse to give them a call back. i took a nap earlier and woke up with blood on my panties and cramping again. i had a pad on but the blood went to the side of it and onto my panties. for cramping she said i could also use a heating pad on my tummy. which today my cramping isn't in front it went to my lower back. and again thanks for all the help and info very much appreciated.
