Max is sleeping a lot and when he is not sleeping, he wants to eat!!!! We are formula feeding and he is wanting to eat every 2-3 hours. I know they usually say 3-4 hours but he is HUNGRY!! I am not sure if he is eating to soothe himself - Sammy had reflux - so I am watching carefully for that with Max.

Oldtimer Posts: 3045 11/17/2009 10:58 AM I'm a Foster-Mommy!	It feels like all Mckenzie wants to do when she is awake is eat too! We try to soothe her with her paci just to buy some time. I am feeding her 3 oz every 3-4 hours. She enjoys being in her vibrating bouncy chair or the swing (sometimes) so we put her in there every once in a while. She likes to look around at lights or her mobile, etc.... She is very observant! I switched to the Dr. Brown's bottles over the weekend and WOW what a difference that has made with her! She is not so gassy anymore. Well, she toots all of the time, but she isn't grunting and pushing so hard to get them out. She is also so content now. It's great!!

We are using Born Free this time - which are similar to Dr. Browns. just a little easier to clean. Eating every 3-4 hours sounds good at this point. I am going to ask the ped. tomorrow about his wanting to eat so often. We also try to soothe by swaddling and using paci. but sometimes it just doesn't work He likes the swing and vibrating seat too.

Mckenzie had a checkup today and the dr. decided that because she is gaining so nicely and quickly, that we can wean her off of the High Calorie formula! That high cal formula is OVERLOADED with iron and everything else, and because of that, she doesn't poop at all! It's so sad!! So, we are going to start weaning her off of the Enfamil Enfacare to Good Start. I hope she takes to it well and that it helps with her constipation!

I am SURE that will do the trick in terms of the pooping! Good luck with the change in formula. We always have such issues with formula - Sam was on every formula under the sun and ended up on Alimnetum (hypoallergenic). Max was having a rough time with the reg. Similac from the hospital so dr. advised to go right to what worked with Sam. Also looking forward to my ped appt tomorrow!

Oldtimer Posts: 3045 11/17/2009 9:03 PM I'm a Foster-Mommy!	This was the 2nd time she saw the doc. They want to really monitor her growth. The first time was Oct.27th- 21 days old. Here are the stats: Weight: 4lbs 6oz Length: 17 1/2 inches Head: 12 (I don't know if that is inches or what?!?!) Today November 17, 2009- 6 weeks 1 day old Weight: 6lbs 3.8oz Length: 18 inches Head: 13 ??? He was really satisfied with how she is progressing and her weight gain. That is why he feels comfortable weaning her off the high cal formula. I really hope it helps with the pooping issue. Next appt is for her 2 month, with her shots. I have to call tomorrow to schedule that, but she is 2 months old on Dec. 5th.

Keep us posted on how she does with the new formula! Sammy was a peanut like Mckenzie - Max is my little porker He was born 7lbs8ozs, went home 7lbs1oz and now at 2 weeks is 8lbs7oz - dr. was surprised by his growth We go back in 2 weeks for his 1 month appt. I think they do the second hep b shot then. PS - DO YOU THINK THE OTHER GIRLS KNOW WE ARE OVER HERE?

Oldtimer Posts: 1412 11/19/2009 2:20 PM Gettin' My Fertility Freak On!	Hi ladies! Sounds like Mckenzie and Max are doing well! Jami, they say at the beginning to feed on demand and I thought it was every 2-2 1/2 hours to 3 hours on feeding. But I believe it's what works for everyone. Jason is doing well. He goes in to the doc's on Dec. 22nd for his 2 month check. He is growing and filling out nicely! I nurse him and then supplement w/formula. The thing about nursing is I have no idea how much he's getting. But I know he's getting some! With both girls I couldn't go past 3 weeks, Carli was starving b/c I had no milk. So things are going well w/the feeding. We started our tight schedule, feeding every 3 hours and then during the night feeding on demand. He's usually up twice during the night. Jason likes to sleep during the day, doesn't seem to be thrilled w/his bassinet though (not crazy about laying flat but will tolerate it some). So he's been sleeping a lot in his bouncy, I really need to get him in a bed! Jason is the gassiest baby I've ever known!! He's able to pass it luckily but geez he farts more than any other little person I know! He is our "grunter", he's a noisy little guy! And his right eye tends to get goopy, I know it's fine but I was hoping it would go away by now. I guess his tear duct is clogged so it causes his eye to get gooey. He was circumsized at 2 weeks, that went well. I think I've finally learned how to clean a penis. LOL Anyway, glad to hear all these babies are doing so well! *Lisa*

I tried again, like how I tried with Sammy - and gave up already :-( I am sad about it but it was best for my sanity! at cleaning the penis - I felt so much more confident this time after the circumcision -I remember with Sammy making my husband take care of it. I think overall penises are easier to clean than vaginas Amy this is what I read about hep B vaccine The hepatitis B vaccine is given to children in a a series of three injections (shots). The first shot is given to infants before leaving the hospital. If the baby's mother carries the hepatitis B virus, the baby receives the first vaccine shortly after birth. The second shot is given between 1 and 2 months of age. The third shot is given at 6 months of age. And now that I think about it - Sammy got his 2nd one at 2 months - my dr. now gives it at 1 month because there are other shots at 2 months and he likes to spread them out.

It sounds like everyone is doing so well! All of the babies are healthy and growing! I can't wait for Tracy and Jessica to get here, then our DIN "family" is complete again! I feel so close to you all, our group was great!! I'm sure Mckenzie will get the next Hep B shot at her 2 month. I scheduled that yesterday and it is on Dec. 16th. I told daddy that he HAS to come with me to that one. I'm scared about the shots! I hope everyone is getting enough rest. (yeah right ) Even when I am dead dog tired, in the middle of the night feedings, I still stare at Mckenzie in amazement that she is MINE and she is perfect and beautiful! Our baby shower is tomorrow! I'm so excited! This is the rescheduled date because the first one was set for Oct. 3, but my water broke on the 2nd, so we had to call everyone and cancel it! I hope we get a good turnout! I'll be sure to take lots of pics and post them!
