Talking |

Noah ia almost 18 months and still not really talking. He babbles a lot and has a few words that I understand but no one else would but he has very few real
words. He is much slower at talking than my girls were. How 'bout all the other little ones?

You know, my second was very slow at talking... At 21 months old, he could say 4 words. But then, a couple of months later, it was a sudden word explosion, and
now we wish we could shut him up sometimes! This kid talks so much it's a surprise it took him so long to figure it out!
Elodie is 11 months old and doesn't say anything yet. Not even mama or papa. <a href="http://bellybelly.com.au/"><img src="http://bellybelly.com.au/t/mXi3IzGmuR.gif" border="0" /></a>

Nate is going to be a year on Thanksgiving and says nothing! LOL A while back he was saying mama when you said it to him, but I guess it was a fluke, cause he
doesn't really do that anymore. He says mamamama and dadadada but not to us or anything. My daughter said her first words at 7.5 months, was saying short
sentences at a year and hasn't shut up since! LOL! I posted about this in STTA, I don't know if it's that the first baby talks more (because we
spend more time talking one on one to them and because they don't have an older sibling to do the talking for them) or if it's a gender thing. I have
heard a lot of people say their boys talked really late and their girls in general we earlier. On the other hand Nate is now pulling up to standing and will
probably start walking a lot sooner than Izzie did (at 16.5 months!).

Lily is a much better talker than Maddie was. She speaks clearer and more than Maddie was at this age FOR SURE. I can't even count her words because she
says new ones hourly, it seems. I think it just depends on the child.

Hmmm... I guess all kids are different. It is hard for me to compare my three kids, but so far I think my first child was the best talker from an earlier age.
My second hardly said any words at all until she hit 2 years old, and even now (at almost 3 years old) she seems to say fewer understandable words than my son
did at that age. And even compared to other children her age, I think she has a smaller vocabulary. The baby is almost 17 months old and knows several words...
I think she'll be an earlier talker than my second one. They are all just so different, you know? I would wait until your son is 2 years old before you
worry too much. Check with the pediatrition to find out what is a normal range of words at that age and just keep track of it. I was worried about my second
child, but when I actually sat down and wrote all the words she could say it came to about the normal range, so I stopped worrying.

I just got Collin evaluated and he was approved for speech therapy. I don't think it is ever to early to start, if it is gonna help your child why not give
them that opportunity. Some people in my family think I am being too pushy, but I am doing what is best for my child not yours
