I am glad that you are seeing your RE again I don't know what your insurance is like but have you considered IVF since they can actually test the embryo's for a chromosome abnormality? http://www.advancedfertil...on_genetic_diagnosis.htm Just a thought.
As for injections, I have PCOS and have done them for an IUI, IVF and timed intercourse. I have done Follistim, Gonal F, Bravelle. After I lost our first son, I started fertility treatments about 3 months after. After a year of Follistim/IUI's, I still was not pregnant. I am sure stress played a role in it as well. I ended up switching to Gonal-f and did an IVF that cycle and concieved our 5 year old. I did two frozen transfers after him only to have a Blighted Ovum and a Chem pregnancy. I told the doctor that I wanted to try a more natural approach so we did Bravelle injections along with Femara but did timed intercouse instead and we conceived our 2 year old with that method. It just felt like a much more relaxed cycle since we did the timed intercourse. As for the injections themselves, they are not that bad. I had to do intramuscular back then but they don't tend to do that much anymore so your needle is small like a diabetic needle. Depending on the drug you use, a lot of them have a 'pen' that you dial and give yourself shots with. I wish you and your husband the best and hope that your RE figures out the best protocol for you quickly
