I live in a small town and a small group of us moms make up our preschool board. We recently had one mom (whom is known for causing problems) informed us half way through the semester that her son had speech therapy almost every secong Pre school day so she would only like to pay us half his school fees. We told her had we known the situation before school started perhaps we could have worked something out but by letting us know half way through, after we had already done up the year's budget and what not, we were not able to give her a discount. She got mad and pulled her son out and asked for an invoice for half the fees, which we will give her because we're not prepared for a big face off. And seriously, our fees are so cheap. It is 120.00 a semester (for 2 half days of school a week). When you register for swim lessons, soccer, etc, you don't get a discount if you can't attend a bunch of the classes. What do you think?

I think she should only be discounted if another child can be placed in the spot she is leaving empty. KWIM? Otherwise, by having her leave completely, you can actually PUT someone else in the spot!

around here, that's not the way it works. you pay full price period - no money back for vacations or sick days or anything else. it's about supply and demand though - everything fills up here, so the centers have the leverage

It's actually a preschool though, not a daycare so it follows the school year. Therefore we can't put someone else in the part time spot part way through the semester.

Owen goes to preschool at a local church 2 half days per week and the tution is $900/school year. So your rates sound great to me! Even if her child only attends 1/2 the time you still have to -hold- a whole spot.....so it would be unreasonable for her to think she should only pay 1/2.

What do the rules say? Isn't there something that states full tuition is to be paid even if days are missed, that has to be signed when registering? If there is, just refer her to that.

We're such a small town that we don't have an in depth rule manual and we've never encountered this problem. Some people are just so frustrating!

I agree tht you pay full price no matter how many days the child can/can't attend.
